cannot send to printer so pages follow each other when stapled

I've tried settings like 'Spread' and a I can't get the pages to print so that they follow each other when stapled together in a booklet. I'm printing 2 pages on one A4 sheet, landscape, so that they will make a booklet of 8 sheets of paper (32 pages)I'm new to Indesign, so forgive me if it's very obvious.

...as your booklet needs to be landscape format you will have to approach this differently, indesign does come with Inbooklet SE, found under the file menu, although this is limited to what can be achieved, it won't bind heads and foots of pages together for example...

...a longer approach will be needed or there is a script posted on the adobe forum that may help, i've not tried it though, as yet...

...another route would be to export you document to pdf, then create a documen the size of your printers sheet and then manually position these in the correct orientation and order too, folding up sheets and numbering them will help to know what pages need to appear where...

...indesign isn't, unfortunately, geared up to be an imposition software package, other software developers take on this role instead...

You will want to use InBooklet SE...but it's not fully developed and easy (limited functionality without additional subscription cost) when you are trying to master your spread. Make sure you look at the preview in this feature to see how the pages line up before waiting for it's export. Note: It will export to PDF first and then you will print from there.
