I have a user who when he receives an word attachment which is a form that needs to be filled out. He hits REPLY, then edits the attachment (does quite a bit of editing) then saves the file. When he finally hits SEND he gets "operation failed" then he tries to SAVE the msg and gets "cannot save file has been moved or deleted, save to default instead?" he tries to save to default then gets "out of memory resources".
This has happened to him a few times but only when he takes a very long time to edit the attachment. Could there be some conflict between the Word Autosave and the background transfer of attachments to the exchange server?

I think Word creates a temp save, and then the user is trying to send that temp file, which doesnt really exist. Best thing to do is to open the Email, then open that attachment and save it to the hard disk, do the editing (save it), and then reply to that email and attach the new .doc file. Jay~

My new Tae Kwon Do website is up and running!!

Keytech is correct. It's the client's procedure in handling the attachment that is where the fault is at.
