Cannot send mail to certain domains.

Recently our server had an IP address change from a single static to five multiple addresses. Everything is working perfectly except we can't send e-mail to anyone in the midsouth.rr.com domain. Timewarner isn't any help.

When we check the queues, we get the following additional queue info:

"An SMTP protocol error occurred."

Eventually the message times out and the client rcvs an NDR.

Any suggestions?
 
Yes, this is due to a problem with RDNS. Make sure that each of your five IPs resolves back to your domain name.

Yeah Marc turns out that Time Warner needed a pointer record. Never needed one with the the hundreds of domains that we have set up. But after having our isp put one in we were fine. Very STRAAAANGE. Thanks for replying also.
 
More and more companies are requiring this every day, so not as strange as you think. Hotmail, AOL, MSN and Yahoo were among the first major mail systems to require this.
