I have just installed a SBS box in our other branch 200 miles away. I have forgoten to open one of the ports ( Daft I Know) My problem is that when I remote onto the server I cannot acces the router.

My sever has 2 NICS Wan / Lan.

Is there anyway I can access the router so I dont have a 400 mile round tril for 25 seconds of work.

Please

can Remote Desktop into the server?

you also have the option of walking someone through giving you remote access to the router.

You could also vpn into the sbs box.

How do you "remote" into the server? If it's with RDP, then you should be able to connect to the router from the inside. If it's with VPN, then you should still be able to RDP, then connect to the router from the server desktop.

I would walk someone else through doing it for you and then change the password.

I should have said "Ditto Nsanto."

Thanks for the two replies. I can assess the server either VPN or Remote desktop.

Is there any way I can access the router without user intervention on there side. 2 reasons,1 save face and 2 they all avoid pc like the death, thrying to take them through opening a port would be like putting teath.

Cheers

Craig, is there a reason why you can't RDP to the server and then use HyperTerminal to access the router? Or if the router accepts HTTP/S traffic to the internal interface, can't you hit that from the server?

And why don't you know the port? Those would be 80/443 or 23. Does the router take a SSH connection? Are you running ISA on your server with outbound traffic restrictions?

WHAT TYPE OF ROUTER IS THIS?

Cisco? D-Link? 2Wire?

ShackDaddy.

Thankyou so much. I must have been stressed out at the thought of the drive. I was forgetting the S in HTTPS.

If you live in the UK send me your address and I'll send you a bottle of what every you drink. You just saved my weekend...

Many Many thanks.
