I am using FC4 as a server with samba to link my win xp machines. I can see/copy/move etc files from my xp shares to the linux machine, from my linux machine. When I use my xp machines I can see all the shared directories fine in the linux machine, but not the files.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you F5 to refresh, does it appear in Explorer.
I've seen a similar thing this morning on a Samba share.
I could see files, but not the user.
Problem was that all the files were marked as hidden.
Changing the users' Explorer settings to Show Hidden files solved the problem.
Also, if the file had execute permission (ie. 775), they were hidden.
Changing it to 664 solved it as well.

If this is your problem as well, set
map hidden = No
