My configuration: Netgear DGFV338 VPN router, NAS Thecus 4100n, XP client with greenbow vpn client software.

The VPN is established succesfully with the Netgear VPN router. The webpage of the router (192.168.1.1) and the printer webpage (192.168.1.8) are browseable. The nas webpage (192.168.1.100) and the files (\\192.168.1.100) aren't reachable.

Can you help me please?
Nathan

Are you VPNing into your employer's network or into you home network?

If it is the employer's, the buzzword you want (and rarely get from your IT folks) is 'split tunneling'.

If it is your own network, be sure you set up the VPN for the Subnet not just the server.

ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/dgfv338_fullmanual.pdf
(page 120 shows 'Subnet')

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Jimbopalmer, thank you for your answer.

Its my own network. It is a small network without any server. (besides a file server).
I set up the VPN for the subnet.'Enable NetBios' is not enabled.

Best Regards,
Nathan

Jimbo---split tunneling is for using the local network and the remote network at the same time. That may be the case here...

I would make the local and remote subnets different---192.168.1.0/24 on both ends will result in problems like this.

Also, be sure to exclude the vpn subnet addresses from NAT.

Burt,

Thanks, I'll try your hint this week. I'll keep you updated.

Best regards,
Nathan

Problem is solved. The fileserver is reachable.
Just the shared maps under vista aren't visible. That I have to find out.

Thanks to all.
