Hi All,

I have insight manager 5.2 running on NT4 server. Its been fine monitoring our servers. Now i upgraded a few of the server to 2003. same hardware. but now i cannot view the device in the console. Just get a black indicator light with 'inaccessible'.
i have config snmp service correctly etc. it work fine on a server i installed 2000 on.
Thanks in advance.

Did you upgrade the server agents on the 2003 servers?

It is the security settings in the SNMP Service. W2K3 is locked down by default. You need to allow access by either IP or DNS name.

I have the same problem, I have 3 servers W2K3, in Insight compaq manager 4.9 I see just 3 black devices, manually I can send and receive traps but they still black with no information device, no thing

When you said allow access to, could you give more details?
thanks

If you go into the properties of the SNMP service, on the security tab, you will see that the radio button is set to accept from specific hosts by default. In previous versions of windows it would accept from and host by default.

hi anwrocki
