I am using Word 2000 with Win98 and having problems to save documents. I get an error message "File permission error" and then the file appears like "Read Only". I saved the file with a new name and then Word creates a tmp file. I think it is a Network problem.

I will appreciate any comment!

It sounds like your user rights are not sufficient to allow you to write to the directory your trying to save to. You can verify this by saving the file onto a local drive. This will eliminate the need for user rights to the entwork drive.

Check your user permissions to see if full control is available to your home directory. Mahalo,

I have to concur with guava65. It's definately a permissions problem. I'd check the folder's rights first and then any user's group you've been associated or assigned to.
--MiggyD It's better to have two heads to solve a problem from different angles than to have tunnel vision to a dead end.

I already gave full control access to the user´s home folder and the problem go on. I am sure its a network problem because when I work with the same document in the hard drive, nothing happens.
Working on the home folder I must save the document with another name and then is generated the tmp file named:
filename.doc.in2, this problem came two weeks ago and I cant find a solution.

I really appreciate your help.

Full control for who ?? The User or yourself ???

When you save an Office document, office first writes the changes to a temp file then deletes the original file. If you don't have delete rights, you'll get a "Couldn't save, saving as (some random number)" type of message Tyrone Lumley
