I recently installed Windows XP on a computer on the network in my office. Everything came up and I started loading programs as normal. However, when the first program required a restart I got the following error:
"Windows cannot copy file C:\Documents and Settings\royhouser\local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat.LOG to location \\poweredge server\Profiles$\royhouser\local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat.LOG
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"
I checked and found out that the file does appear on both the server and the Users machine and it is the User's machine that is holding the file "open".
Does anyone know how to free this file up, or which process would be holding it "open" / in use. I don't want to randomly start ending processes b/c it can get ya booted prematurely. But i did end all of the user's processes and it still was in use.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. royhouser
If you think it's impossible...somebody else will set out to prove you wrong.
