Have a customer with Rel 3 VS Voice mail system....Here is the problem. When x28 tries to change her personal greeting, the recording stays at factory default. Here is what I did. Logged into her mailbox ( yep, I verified the extension is 28 ) went to the greeting recording and recorded new greeting. Pressed 1 to end, pressed 23 to listen to the greeting and it was just what I recorded. Pressed *# to save and it said the greeting was saved. Logged back into her mailbox and listened to what I just recorded and it was back to factory greeting.... I did it several times and same thing.... Any ideas.!!!!

Thanks for the reply TouchTone - just tried it and everything stayed the same.... Still will not save the personal greeting. Please, keep it coming, any ideas are great.

If you've reinitialized that mailbox and it still would not save the personal greeting I would switch extension ports and assign a new mailbox to it for that user. Did you reboot the system yet??

We all need a little help once in awhile. Tony the Phoneman..

delete mailbox, create a different mailbox(ext50) , then create ext 28 mailbox

Ravnz5 - I did not try to reset the system yet. I will try that in the morning. Didn't even think of that.....

1043 - is the reason for deleting mbox 28, then creating mbox 50, then creating mbox 28, are you thinking that the voicemail would put the new mbox 28 in a different "location" in the memory/harddrive and therefore bypass a "bad spot" in the system???? Very creative !!!! I will try that too.... Have you tried that before.....?? This is why I think this site is so great.....

I had a situation once where a phone was forwarded to a different mailbox and no one knew it, so the incoming callers were not hearing the message associated with the mailbox. This is probably not your issue, but just for giggles I would do a Feature 11 and then forward ext 28 to 28. It is possible to forward without visual indication - its a one in 100 shot, but just one more possibility you can eliminate....

Thats the teory. Its work for me in the past on a VS5.
