Hi all,

I have a unique issue. Using Acrobat 5.0.5, when I open an existing PDF and edit it, let's say by rotating it, when I go to save it the 'save' option is greyed out and only the 'save as' option is available. If I use this option and save over the original file when I bring up the file again the changes were not saved. I then tried the same thing on Acrobat 4.0 but I did not experience this in 4.0. Is there a patch I need for 5? Anyone ever see this before. Other than this 5 works fine. Thanks.

That IS odd. If you can only select 'Save as' and you choose a different name to that of the original, is the change saved?

Did you rotate from the toolbar? This only rotates the view, so there is no change to the document therefore the save button will not be activated. If you rotate from the menu this will rotate the document, and you should be able to use the save button - when you open it again it should be rotated.

Hope this helps...[2thumbsup]

Ahhhhh, I see you have a machine that goes Bing!

Eggles, yes even when I save as using a different file name the changes are not saved. I used the menu selection View -> Rotate clockwise. I have even used edit and rotate pages and the changes are not saved. I was howerver able to draw a line on the PDF and save that change. Now I also cannot print this PDF to the PDF Writer. I think it could be related. For instance like in excel, if you have something wromng with a printer driver, when you rotate a page from portrait to landscape and try to print it, the changes will not save. Any other suggestions? This is driving me bonkers lol!

Sorry to ask again, I'm a bit slow on Fridays, did you use Document~>Rotate Pages? Something strange going on if this doesn't work.

>> I used the menu selection View -> Rotate clockwise<<

Aha!! there's the problem. You're using Acrobat READER, not the full verion of Acrobat. If you do not have the menu choice Document>Rotate Pages, then you don't have the full Acrobat.

Because if you only have the Reader, you cannot save the page rotation, you can only view it rotated. To save a page rotation you must have open the PDF in the full Acrobat program.

Not sure about that Eggles, I have exactly the same menu option in Acro 5.05, which is what valicon referred to in the original message - this is a puzzler......[pc1]

Got it! We were NOT using Document > Rotate pages, we were using View > Roate Clockwise, Counterclockwise which only changes the view! Geez! Thanks guys! Appreciate it! Have a Happy Halloween! Beers are on me! :)
