Cannot run Tomcat 3.3.1

Hi !

I am trying to install Tomcat 3.3.1 but I have got this error :

$ $TOMCAT_HOME/bin/startup.sh
usage: dirname [ path ]
Using classpath: /tomcat/user_tom/jakarta-tomcat-3.3.1/bin/../lib/tomcat.jar
Using JAVA_HOME: /..
Using TOMCAT_HOME: /tomcat/user_tom/jakarta-tomcat-3.3.1/bin/..
/tomcat/user-tom/jakarta-tomcat-3.3.1/bin/tomcat.sh: /../bin/java: not found

What's wrong ?
Help me please, noone can help me here, and I don't have any idea !

It's me again !

I have a new error, seems like I've solved the first one :
when I try to start Tomcat, I get a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException for the class : org.apache.tomcat.startup.EmbededTomcat
I'm working on a Unix server, and I'm not used to it so I'm really lost !
