After installation of VS.NET (IIS 5.1) on Win2000 I cannot run aspx and asp files. The

respond is "The requested URL /localstart.asp was not found on this server." Although

appears to run OK. Here is more info as well as I can it present:

1. Internet Services Manager indicates "Default Web Site (Stopped)". When I try to start it,

it says: "Address already in use."

2. In the "Personal Web Manager" window - Main, it indicates:
Web publishing is off. Your home page is not available.
Button "Start"
Your home directory (no home directory is shown)
The "Start" button does not respond, no reaction.

All data under "Monitoring" is turned off (inactive, not running)

3. Server is started.

HELP: Can anybody explain me what is the problem, and what can I do.
Thanks.

Check this out, especially if you installed IIS after installing the Net framework.

It can't hurt to run it.

JohnYingling:
Thanks for quick respond. I checked the two sites you mentioned. I performed steps for "To

repair IIS mappings for ASP.NET". Then I verified the configuration of my Web server

following the steps from the site you mentioned. First I tried to create an ASP.NET Web

application. Here is what message I got:

The default Web access mode for this project is set to file share, but the project folder at

' cannot be opened with the path

'c:\inetpub\ The errreturned was:
Unable to create Web project 'WebApplication1'. The file path

''c:\inetpub\ does not correspond to the URL

' The two need to map to the same server location. HTTP

Error 404: Not Found
What would you like to do?
Retry using different file share path
Location: c:\inetpub\ (can browse)
Try to open the project with FrontPage Server Extensions
OK repeats the same message.

Everything is ok with IIS Application Mappings.

I still have the same problem.

WebApplication1 is the default name for a new web project. It is trying to store project data in that folder. It sounds like a permnissions problem. When you create the project, change the default name before you leave the new project screen. Forms/Controls Resizing/Tabbing Control
