I have a print job on a printer "pluto" that is served from a Solaris backend. I was called by my helpdesk and informed that the job was stuck and that they wanted it deleted. Working from the backend I removed the printjob and the Solaris server does not see the job anymore, but the NT server still shows the job in the print queue in the printer status dialog. The job shows as paused, when unpaused it spits out about 100's of pages (it's only 496Kb). When I go printer>purge print documents or document>cancel I get "error processing command". I did a search on the NT server for .spl files (there were none), I stopped and started the spooler service, the job still shows and I've gotten nowhere. Ideas, suggestions more than welcome.

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

A stop-start on the spooler usually does it. Sounds like you may need to re-boot the server.

What kind of printer is it and what SP level is your NT?

If everything seems to be going well: you don't have enough information.......

Jeff,

It's an HP LaserJet 4050 Series PS and NT 4.0 SP5. I've been unable to get rid of this job even though on the Solaris server it doesn't even exist. I don't know where the print status dialog is getting the information. Thanks for the help.

Jeff,

I figured it out, it was a file left in /var/spool/lp/tmp/hostname that needed to be
deleted. Thanks again for the help.
