I installed a package from rpm, then upgraded with newer version. Then I wanted to remove this newer verson (with rpm -e) and install the old one again. But I got a message that this package is not installed. This is weird, because rpm -q shows that package is installed. Why could that be and what can I do?

The last time I had a problem like that, it was because I was not being specific-enough in my "rpm -e" invocation. I was typing something like:

rpm -e foo_server

when I needed to type something like

rpm -e foo_server.1-02.3

Yes!!! Many thanks.
I was typing package name with .rpm instead of just the name.
Thanks again.
