I deleted a formula from my report and even tho I have done this it still says it is being used in the report and will not allow me to refresh my report. I know that the formula has been deleted and it is no longer in the report. When I go to insert the fields and go under formulas there is still a green check mark beside the formula name like it is still in the report. How can I get rid of a formula once I have put it into the report completely?

Thanks. I am using Crystal 8.5

Just because it is not on the report design view does not mean that it is not in use. I would check all of my other formulas (including section formatting formulas) to see if the formula in question is being referenced by them.

One way to find where a formula is used is to export the report, and choose the "report definition" format. This creates a .txt file which documents your formulas, sorting, record selection, etc.

Open this .txt file in notepad and perform and edit-find for the formula you cannot delete. This will tell you where it is being used.

Another way to find a lost formula is to edit the formula so that there is an error.

for example change the type of a variable.

When the report is run and the obscure use of the formula is found...the error will cause the formula to pop-up.....Gotcha
