I get the following message when trying to remove a database from a report:
There are fields in the report from this file. Continue? My two options are OK or Cancel.
I select OK. And then I select Done. This works until I need to save the report. When I save the report I get the following program error:

crw32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.
My only option is OK.
I click OK and it closes Crystal and doesn't save any of my changes.

I see the field that is 'used' on the report (according to the green checkmark when I look at the database fields through the Insert Database fields menu option).

I have checked the subreport links (from the main report), all formulas, running totals, input parameters, condition expressions, select expert and SQL Query and this field is not used anywhere.

I have also exported the report definition, and the field does not appear.

How can I remove this database from the report?

I've answered my own question.

You need to remove all subreport links (I had already linked up the new database I was using), then remove the database from the report, then re-add the new subreport links.

Hope this will help others.

Save the report under a different name.

Remove the table.

Select verify database.

Generally that works, but I've had similar situations to yours.

If you have a parm referencing a field which changes type, this can cause CR to hiccup, try to manually remove any references PRIOR to dropping the table.
