I am trying to query a table containing Job Titles and Persons names. I am trying to eliminate duplications of the job titles, just produce once with the names of the people that share that title.

Plumbing
Fred Farmer
Joe York
Alan Found

Carpentry
Mike Taylor

Heating etc etc. To produce a recordset. Many thanks

You would be able to do this in a Report by Grouping by the Job Title and putting the staff in the detail section (or put it all in the detail section and set Hide Duplicates to True for the Title field) but I don't know of any way in a query (except for possibly a crosstab query) to do this.

Thanks Paul, thought that may have been the case but confirmation of yours appreciated. Thanks again

How about a query with aliased fields created like so:

Plumbing:IIf([jobtitle]="Plumbing",[name])

Carpentry:IIf([jobtitle]="Carpentry",[name])
