A client has a system that has become unable to link a kernel. I need badly to get a good backup some data on the system but adding a tape drive requires relinking the kernel which as I said will not succeed. When the system boots now I see indications of configuration file problems (ie it trys to load the UPS module 5 times, the first time succeeds and the next 4 it says "already running", duh.) I am not fully versed on what files are used and created by the kernel linking process. Can anyone help me out on this problem?
