I've got postfix for a long time running without problems, but since a time mail with word attached (I guess, because a PDF arrives well, and all MS Word .doc went wrong) Is not delivered in my mailbox (cyrus).

My log:

May 10 16:34:19 S-001 postfix/cleanup[6001]: 271034BB91: message-id=<60275.92.254.96.114.1273501012.squirrel@webmai l.xtramediaservices.nl>

put -v after cleanup in master.cf and now the last sentence says:

cleanup_header_callback: 'Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="name.doc"'

Then it stops. I also tried a docx, that arrives well.

I already reinstalled postfix, anyone better idea?

Do you have any sort of anti-virus / spam detection softare running?

I just ran a test with my own postfix server, using squirrelmail. I was able to succesfully send and receive an email with a .doc extension. I know that .exe files are prohibited and Amavis, which I am running will reject them.

Yes, I use Amavis, but .doc is not in the list of banned extensions. I even tried a # for all the banned extensions, but no better.

I now see that it's also for xls-documents (excel), so it looks like MS Office, other extensions go well. And when I renamed a .doc to .dor the mail still won't arrive.

Two things I can think of at the moment:
1 - See if you can locate where the mail is. Was it quarantined, or anything. I should still be sitting in a file somewhere. This may provide a clue

2 - From the log portion you provided, it looks like the cleanup daemon is the last process to touch the message. Try to see if the process is hung, if you can.

I can't find it anywhere, not in the Amavis folders for virus and spam (and the problem also occurs with Amavis turned off), not in the postfix folders. I even installed a newer version of Suse (11.2) on a totaly blank machine, problem stays. I use a fallback at my domain registrar and the mail now and then is delivered at the server, but never comes through.

It still only occurs with older office (doc and xls, not docx and xlsx) documents. And when I zipped a .doc to .zip it went right.

I can't see the proces is hung (or you should tell me how). If I enable the attachment check for some extensions (like .exe, .vbs), in postfix, cleanup take one step further, looking for the listed extensions it says: not found

Are you perchance using header contect checks? There is a postfix setting regarding the contents of the mime headers for attachements. Amonst other things, this was specifically designed to disallow .doc and .xls files.

See the following:
If not, I am at a loss. There is clearly a problem with the encoding of .doc files. Try changing the extension to something other than .doc, but leave the file the same. If it goes through, you know that the problem is that it is flagging on the fact that it is a "doc" extension, which implies filtering somewhere.
