Cannot receive email when using linksys wireless router

Everything runs super when connected directly to my cable modem, at work, or over a vpn connection from a hotel. The moment I use my linksys wireless router, I cannot replicate my email.

Strangely - I can send email, i cannot receive. It just freezes.

Do you think this is related to a port that I must change because the router is messing it up? How do I do this? Have others encountered this problem?
