I am completely new to sending encrypted and/or digitally signed e-mails
(though I seem to understand basic concepts of public key cryptography).
I've just got a free digital id (certificate) from thafte.com and so have my
friend.
He wrote me a digitally signed message, and I am able to read it and see
that the signature is ok. I wrote a signed message to him, and he also can
read it and see that the signature is ok.
THE PROBLEM IS: we both are unable to read encrypted messages from each
other. When we try to view encrypted message, MSOE just says
"Message could not be displayed. Outlook Express encountered an unexpected
problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or
low disk space and try again."
in message preview pane.
Which is of course irrelevant, as we both have got plenty of disk space and
free memory.
What are we doing wrong? Thanks a lot for any help or advice.
If it is important: I've got MSOE 5 (5.50.4522.1200) on Windows 2000 Pro, my
friend has got MSOE 6 (6.00.2600.0000) on Windows ME. I am ready to give any
additianal info, if this is necessary.
Thanks,
Henry

Did you export your public key to your friend and import his public key. Once you have done this and encrypted for him using his public key he will be able to read the message. The same applies the other way. Incidently, the keys are imported into your address book. There should be an explanation as to how to do this.
