Hi,

I have just recently started to use corelDRAW to finish up a few graphic files for a client, and have never used the program in that much depth.

I am running into an issue with transparencies. I apply the transparency to one of my objects (in this case a uniform filled box) which I will place over another bitmap so that it will give the illusion of the bitmap fading off.

However, when I try to print the file (an epson 740) everything is perfect except for the objects with the transparency as they do not print correctly. Has anyone else ran into this issue, how can I fix this?

You can see the print example at this image, note anything that is circled (the yellow and blue do not match)

Thanks,

Depends on what version you are using but first try printing WITHOUT using the print preview. Using transparencies can really increase print complexity and print time if you can convert all the transparency elements to one combined bitmap you will probably find that the job will print more reliably and faster. Pantone colours don't support transparency and would be converted to cmyk if separated.

I'm currently using version 10.427.

I tried to convert the two transparency blocks to bitmaps (even freeze the transparency and hten convert) but it still prints out as an odd shade when compared to the other colors on the print.

The real odd thing is when I print the file to the epson using no print preview, the yellow transparency prints correctly but the blue box does not, however when I print to the companies B&W brother printer the yellow does not work but the blue box prints correctly....ugh. I'm going to assume its something to do with bad ICC profiles being applied, but dont know why one earth it would print out as such.

I grouped and converted the entire document to a single bitmap (cmyk) and it printed correctly except that all the colors are lighter (mainlyt the blue) and there is a slight lose in quality on the text. I guess the transparency's would convert themselves to CMYK color for print, but I still dont understand why they would not match the other CMYK colors I have (such as cmyk 'blue' and 'yellow') on the document.

It is most likely because your color properties are displaying to match the printer. I am not sure the steps in version 10, but for 11 go to Tools-> Color Management Either turn off color management, or be sure that the output is calibrated for your printer. That should get you on the correct path. View the help files for in-depth explanations of how the outputs all tie together, and what all of the arrows mean.
