Configuration:
Remote machine w/ SSH Sentinel 1.3.2.2 on dial-up or home DSL.
Office LAN w/ Win2K server and WinXP-P, WinXP-H, WinME and Win98 clients and Linkey BEFVP41 router on SDSL line.
Problem:
The SSH connects to the Linkey OK and I can ping and tracert the LAN side (192.168.0.1) of the Linkey, another router, a wireless access point, and the WinXP-H and Win 98 machines that are left on overnight. The tracert to these machines indicates a single hop through the tunnel. I have only been able to connect to a Win98SE machine.
From the XP-H machines I get "access denied" responses even though I have set up shares that are visible locally.
I cannot ping (or tracert) the Win2K server or my own WinXP-P machine. I had previously been able to connect to the Win2K server when I was running the SSH Sentinel 1.40-190 build evaluation client, but the license expired and I can't reload it. It apparently left a "license expired" signature somewhere in my machine that I have not been able to find.
My Questions:
1. Why can't I even ping the Win2K server or the WinXP-P machines? I can ping (and connect to) them locally on the LAN.
2. For the WinXP-H machines, is there a security or permissions setting in these machines that needs to be set to let me connect via the VPN? I can connect to them locally on the LAN.
I'm still pretty low on the learning curve for WinXP and 2K so any help is greatly appreciated. I' still kind of astonished that I got the tunnel up and working, but I still suspect that I'm missing/overlooking something.
