cannot ping second nic card in w2kserver from xppro ws

Cannot ping 2nd nic card
First i noticed that the server is setup a workgroup not a domain. using nat,chcp
1st nic card private net
192.168.0.1 ip
255.255.255.0 subnet

2nd nic internet
192.165.254.1 ip
255.255.255.0 subnet
192.165.254.254 default gateway

209.142.0.2 preferred dns
209.142.0.218 alt dns

the dns suffix box is checked
dns register this connect in dns
now in wins

nat connection2
public interface is checked
translate tcp/udp on
address pool 192.168.254.1-192.168.254.254

static route table
192.168.254.1 destination
255.255.255.255 mask
192.168.254.254 gateway

workstation xp pro

dchp enabled
gateway 192.168.254.1
dns has ips name inreach.com
wins 192.168.254.1-192.168.254.254

the w2k server can get on internet
also direct connect-using static ips

I belive the XP gateway should be 192.168.0.1 because that card knows how to get back to the XP PC and to the 2nd NIC card... The external NIC card may not know how to get back to the XP PC. CJ

also your gateway address in Xp is includedin the address pool your NAt is giving..I agree with CharlieJ A+, MCP, CCNA
