Cannot ping hostname

Hi
I am using Mandrake 9.0. I have networked winXp m/c with this Linux server. I am trying to make internet sharing between these two. I have setup IPMasquerade on Linux. I can ping internal and external IP address from the XP m/c but cannot ping by hostname.

Need help to solve this issue.

You need to enter you ISP's DNS servers on the XP *or* set up you Linux box as a forwarding/caching DNS server.

Is it only the Linux hostname that don't work?? In that case put it in the hosts file (??) on the XP.
