I've installed a 2nd nic on my windows 2000 machine to run my dsl modem and also to share connectivity to the network. Problem is, I cannot ping the second nic, not even locally. I do get internet connectivity if I setup the dsl modem to run through the nic, but only on the local machine. How do i setup the card so that i can ping it.

Thanks

turn off your firewall software or allow port 7 (echo) through it.

I don't really suggest turning it off, but that would be the first thing I checked.

Firewall, turn it off, but once you succed, turn it back on.

When the second nic is connected to the DSL modem it is pulling an IP address from your ISP, a WAN address.

Many ISPs are blocking the ping of their addresses. You may not be able to ping this address.
