cannot open win97 doc under office 4.2

Please HELP!
I have office 4.2, and a got an email with an attachment which was written in word 97, and I cannot open it!
What should I do now ?
Please help, it's urgent!

Hello,

Word is well known for not being backwards compatible. If possible can the email be sent again? This time ask the other person to save the Document in *.rtf file format.

If this doesn't work you may have to search the Microsoft site for the Word 97 viewer.

Can you give me a little more information about Word97 viewer, because, the e-mail cannot be sent again.
I have to write a report about this matter to my boss, you know.
