I'm at a client of mine and just upgraded to IE6 SP1 on Win2000Prof. The client uses an applitation wich wants to open tif files in IE. After the upgrade they found out that this wasn't possible anymore.
Searched MS Knowledge base and found out that MS thought it was a good idea to put those file types on the 'black' list. When I try to associate the tif extension with IE, IE still won't open those files. Actually nothing really happens.

Has anybody a solution or workaround for this problem??

What happens if you right-click the file and select open with ...?

Nope, won't work. If i watch the processes in Task Manager, Iexplore.exe will be started and immediatly closed. Only program to open tif in W2K is Windows Picture and Fax viewer or MSPaint.

Tried that one already. But doesn't seem to the trick. Think that thats only to do with downloading or opening a file.

The thing is that the client where i'm working for has an ASP application from which tif files are viewed in IE. Already suggested to rewrite the ASP to open tiff's in another application, but they don't seem to happy with that workaround.
