Cannot open SQL error

I am VB programmer and not a server analyst, so I am really new in this. My IT Manager is on holiday so I need help figuring out a problem.
When the users are trying to print A/R invoice, they get error: cannot open SQL server error. THis started happening after our LINUX Pervasive server was rolled back from 9.5 to 8.6 and Accpac from 5.4 to 5.3. None of the users are able to print AR reports. I don't know if I needed to or not but I tried testing their DSN connection and they all get ... SQL Connection Manager error. Any ideas to how to fix it? Am I making any sense?

Delete and recreate the ODBC DSNs.

Note that I have _NEVER_ rolled a version back, that's probably the source of the problem.
