I just created a simple HTML page using Word. From the Windows Explorer, I can double click the document and it opens up without a problem (I'm using ie5.5). If I first open ie and try to open it using File -> Open, I get the error: "Access to the resource 'c:\test.html' has been disallowed".

Does anyone know why?

P.S. I tried to search this forum on "disallowed" or even "html" but nothing comes up. This is wierd!

I can't solve your problem, but as a hint, try not using word, It seems to add heaps of xtra tags and stuff, which would take aaa-ges to sort out for netscape anyways. You could try opening it in notepad and stripping it down, then saving it someplace else - but...

Probably better to get an HTML editor like CUTEhtml which free:

By learning this way, you know what does what and how to fix problems. "Alright whatever man, I'll hook up the hair, but I aint touchin the ring...Cause I'm still a pla--yer"

I've had this problem! You might find that the links on the page won't open other local links either (you get the same message). I was teaching at a college and assumed it was the high level of network security on the machines they were using - are you on your own computer? Test it by trying to open another HTML document in the same way.

It is unlikey to be the contents of the HTML document (but if you are going to be publishing the document listen to bangers and try to clean up the HTML - Dreamweaver will clean it up quite well (there's a command to do it!) but you are better off doing it by hand. to be sure to be sure

I am assuming your using Word 2000, the reason for this is because the autogenerated html code from Word 2000 uses ActiveX and XML. The two languages are considered "dangerous" to most Web Browser Antivirus vendors and also if you set your browser to have a high securty setting.

I would suggest using Dreamweaver or Front Page Express, which is free if you download from
good luck
