IE
refuses to browse internet in the address bar when you type in an address it comes up with cannot open search page and in the address area its now
any suggestions

From inside Internet Explorer...using the menu at the top...Tool/InternetOptions/Advanced...under the section Search from address bar...there are several radio buttons to check/choose from...set it there to search as you want.

tried that still doing the same with all sites it went into advanced and reset to defaults same with security. i recon its something to do in the registry

Lspook:
Try this...inside IE hit search and it should bring up a frame on the left titled search...then from the choices...change preferences...then (seems OS dependent but may not be) choose change Internet search behavior...then choose the radio button "With Classic Internet search". Maybe combined with the other tweaks we've suggested the thing will work for you.
If you have any gumption left to try it...

Depending on your OS, you may do a repair install of IE...
(seems not available in Win98...can't remember that one and don't have it on a system to try...)

thanks for the time. it was decided that we'd do a format c:. weve too many pc's for repair to be messing around and wasting time. ill take a note of that fix for the next one that comes in with that problem.
