I removed Office 2000 and installed Office XP. I set up an Exchange 5.5 account, but when I try to open it I get a message saying I do not have permissions. I set up about 10 other computers and did not run across this.
Suggetions
1.Make sure the user account has access to the domain.
2.Make sure the workstation is part of the domain
3.IF your using a local admin account, you might have to rejoin the workstation to the domain.
4.Ping the Exchange server to verify you can see it on the network.
5.Reverify the password your typing, Might have to reset the mailbox'password or the user's domain password to match permissions.
