We upgraded from Adobe 4.0 to 6.0. Now I have a user who cannot open PDFs from the internet or Intranet. A separate box opens, the status say installing components, then disappears quickly leaving a red "x" in the upper left of a blank box. We can open PDFs already saved on the PC. I've tried tweaking IE settings and those in Edit>preferences in Acrobat. It's like it is installing Adobe as a plug-in. Any suggestions are appreciated, thank you!

Thank you--that was going to be my "last resort". It was deployed via SMS, so I did a manual reinstall and so far, so good. Thanks again!

For some reason, the browser seems to "forget" what to do with the Acrobat/Reader plug-in. I've heard people say that it's related to changing security settings in the browser. I don't know whether that's true or not.

Whenever one of my clients has this problem, re-installing always seems to work. I guess it re-establishes the plug-in functionality for the browser.
