I am trying to open an organisation chart in powerpoint 2000. When I open the template and double click to add an org chart, error message says "MS powerpoint cannot start org chart. This feature not installed would you like to install now?"
Click on yes and it asks to point to the data1.msi file.
I cannot get the machine to recognise this file, first I pointed it to the file on the Office CDrom, then i copied it to the MS office files on the Harddrive. but it comes up with various messages; the file is not a valid installation package for MS office 2000 premium, try an dfind the file.
I have reinstalled office, removed and reinstalled and repaired all to no effect.
Could it be due to the fact that the file is looking for Office 2000 premium but I have installed Office 2000 Professional?
I have tried to remove Office 2000 Premium via control panel but it asks me for the set up files (of which there are none). If I look in add/remove progs there is Office Disk2, Office premium and Office Professional.
Does anybody know what I can do? I'm tearing my hair out!

Thanks

Don't tear your hair out, that's how I lost mine.

Anyway, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.

Find Microsoft Office, click once and click on the Change button. In the dialog box that pops up, select "Add or Remove Features". Expand "Office Tools" category. click on the Drop Down arrow beside Organization Chart and select "Installed on First Use".

Indu,

If I go to add/remove programs there is no change button!
am running NT4 workstation.

any clues?

Aha! How we assume that your own OS is someone else's as well.

Hmmm, NT4. Once you get to Add/remove Programs, select Microsoft Office, click on Add/Remove button; choose Office Tools; click on "Change Option..." button; select Org chart if not selected and any other utilities you desire. click OK, click Continue to finish.

If Org Chart is already selected, then I dunno.

Please post what you find.

Tried that, went to add/remove, it starts the install program chose the change reomve, clicked on all the add ins that sounded like templates, (theres not one for org charts) and changed to install on first use, but this did not work, still getting same error message.

Does any one out there have any ideas? I am still stuck on this....

Hi,

Would you mind outlining the steps you took. My problem is, I have NT 4 with Office 97 on it and I have Win95, Win 98 and Win2K with Office2K, so I can't quite get the steps that you would have to follow.
