Hi,
I've got a PST file here that when I try to open it, outlook says that the file has not been shut down correctly and then scans the file.
After that says that the file is too large and that I have to delete some messages and then open again.
But the problem is that I can't open it to delete some messages.
Do you have a clue of what might be the problem and how can I open the file?

Thanks in advance.

Is this of any use....

Tt will reduce the size of the .pst file to below the 2Gb limit for Outlook.

I've not tried it myself so I can't speak from experience but if you backup your .pst file before you start you have nothing to loose.... except hair of course?!

Hi,
I downloaded the application from Microsoft in order to reduce the file size, and after it I run scanpst on it like explained, but when I try to open the pst file on outlook 2003 it says that the file cannot be oppened as the file version is not compatible with that outlook.
The file originally was from Outlook 2000, but I'm opening it Outlook 2003.
That should be a problem?

Thanks.

That shouldn't cause you a problem. I did it myself recently.. opened 2000 pst with Outlook 2003.

Do you have access to a machine running Outlook 2000 that you can try and import the 'repaired' pst on?

I don't have that machine, I only have the hard drive.
Did you ran selfscan after running the app to limit the file?

Thanks.

I haven't used the app as I mentioned in previous post, I was referring to importing a 2k pst into Outlook 2003... did that without a problem.

So this pst you have is sitting on a detached HD from an old machine then?

Yes, that's right.
I copied the file from the original drive into another drive where I'm working on.
