Cannot open insterted e-mail

Hi

I have an end user that is able to open up attachments in his Outlook, but he cannot open insterted e-mail items. When he double clicks on the inserted item, it doesn't do anything, nor can he save the attachment to launch it from his desktop. There are no errors that appear. I've tried changing his e-mail format type to everything available and all formats have this problem. I have tried re-creating his Outlook profile and that doesn't help. If I login to his computer, the problem appears for me as well, so I think that the problem is with his computer. He can insert an item in his Outlook and send it, but he cannot open an inserted item once it is added. I checked the registry association for *.msg and it looks valid. I am puzzled. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Awhile back there was a problem with Google Desktop interfering with Outlook 2k3 & 2k7 opening message attachments and causing symptoms like you describe. Is your user running GDS?

I believe it was fixed with a newer release of GDS.

Can't immediately find the prev thread on this, but if memory serves you need GDS 5.7.

Thanks for the suggestion. He doesn't have Google Desktop installed. I am wondering if it's a security patch or something like that.
