Hi, Feel a bit stupid about this should have known better, but hey. Have placed 8000 new fonts into my fonts folder in the windows folder. Anyway have tried to load up illustrator but it will not open just get the message 'Could not complete the requested operation'

Any ideas guys. Is the only option to delete the fonts that I have just installed??? Is there a quick way I can delete the fonts

Why do you need 8000 fonts INSTALLED? Instead of installing fonts, use a font management software such as Typograf or Extensis Suitcase and LOAD the fonts (a temporary process) when you need them and then UNLOAD them when you finish working with them.

Both of the programs mentioned indicate which fonts are system fonts and which ones aren't, so I suggest that you uninstall the fonts through either one of them.

It should start the second time. Have you tried? (I have about 3000 fonts and one of them is probably corrupt, and my Illustrator always starts on the second try).
