We are using Outlook 2000. Recently one of the users started having problems connecting to hyperlinks. She receives a weekly newsletter that has links that she normally went to that when she clicks on them now nothing happens.
I sent her a link to a website I go to often and it indicate she is to select a web browser?
Can you help?

If you hold down the left shift button and click on the hyperlink you should get a window asking you to select the browser. Select the browser .exe file and it should work. It should stay permanently as well but if it does not then you will need to look at the file association properties for URL: Hyper Text Transfer Protocol and see if the correct command line for the preferred browser is entered. joegz

I have done a search and do not see a browser.exe file to click on!!??!!

LOL! Not browser.exe! By "browser" I think that joegz meant <browser_name>.exe! ie. whatever your browser is called!

So, presuming that you are running Internet Explorer (as most of us do) then you will need to locate the file "iexplore.exe".

To further that explanation:

First locate your browser's address. If your using MS Internet Explorer its most likely at
c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe

To verify you can right click the icon that looks like a big "e" near the start button on your taskbar, then click properties.
If you use Netscape or something else locate that icon and do the same.

Next get back into the e-mail with the hyperlink.
Hold down the shift button and click on the hyperlink.
Type or paste the address in the single line entry Labeled "File Name", it should look like the following.

File name:[C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE]

Click OK and you should be all set.

Is the user able to open a link in a new window? Have the user open up any web page and right click on a link. Select Open Link In New Window. Does the site open up OK? If so, never mind, I don't know the answer :). However, if a blank window opens up and nothing ever comes up, try this:

Start>Run
Type in "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" without quotes
Hit enter.
You should see a message "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded."

Then have the user try the Open Link in New Window again. That should do it! Let me know!! :)
