Cannot Open File - Error 8009:20551

I am a VB programmer attempting to help a co-worker with a Pagemaker 7 problem.

She has a PM7 document that seems to have been corrupted during distillation to PDF format (Distiller 5.0). I have read throgh the Adobe support document on this issue and the FAQ in this forum. I have attempted every applicable suggestion in those two documents and am still unable to open the document.

We are still able to create new documents and open them up again, but running them through distiller always corrupts the PM7 file.

If anyone could suggest a solution, we would be most grateful. Even if you have an idea what the error code is.

Have you read the FAQs on the Adobe User-to-user forum for Windows Pagemaker? There is a very good guide there for the best way to make PDFs (FAQs 1.1 and 1.2), and another one on errors and unopenable files (FAQ 2.4).

(although the URL includes 'chinese' the document is in English and refers to your error message, although it is specifically for the Mac (are you on Mac or PC?)

Make sure you're using an up-to-date PostScript device driver (e.g.printer driver), or use the version of the driver required by your application.

You also need plenty of free hard disk space when sending a file to a PostScript interpreter, especially when you print a large file. Make sure your free hard disk space is not fragmented.
