I recently uninstalled my download manager, Download Accelerator Plus, and found I couldn't download anything. So, I relucantly reinstalled it. But now, if I try to open Word, Acrobat or PowerPoint documents (or anything not HTML, I suspect) IE just sits there thinking, with the "opening URL" in the lower left status bar. I can right click and download the file, but I would rather just single click and have the document opened like it used to a week ago. Trying to fix IE didn't work. Suggestions?

This might sound stupid, but you still have Adobe Acrobat and MS Word on your system right?

If I remember correctly, D.A. has an option where you can monitor clicks... so if you clicked on something to download, D.A. would automatically kick in... try messing with this setting to see if makes any difference.

Which version of Internet Explorer are you using? If your reply is IE6 then it could be a variety of things!

Yes, I am using IE 6, and yes, I still have the programs installed.

I managed to get the Adobe working again by stopping and restarting browser integration in the program's options menu. However, Office products don't seem to have that type of option. I went to MyComp->View->Folder Options->File Types -> MS Word Document and I unchecked the "browse in same window" option. As before, the browser does nothing (not even open Word like it should with the above option unchecked), but it claims to be "Opening page (URL)".

I can't seem to find the monitor clicks option in DAP, and the online help is useless. Bah!

Any other ideas?
