I have a windows 2000 server running SP4 with all the current Hotfixes from Microsoft. The machine is running Symantec AV 10.
Recently certain functions and directories have become inaccessible by Windows explorer, namely C:\WINNT and C:\Program files (also the control panel and search screen will not open. There is no error thrown, the screens just hang.
I can however map to the C: drive from another machine and use windows to open the directories, also from the affected server I am able to enter the above mentioned directories with a DOS prompt.
I have run chkdsk(no errors found), chkntfs (no errors found).
If anyone has run into this or has any suggestions plese let me know. Thanks.
