Hi,

I am having a problem when a double click on an MS Access file, it request the MS Office install disk. However
I can open MS access from the menu and then open the .MDB file. Does anybody know why this happens and if there is a solution ?

Thanks

My knee jerk reaction would be to run scandisk on the drive, it's possible that something in windows is not loading properly on start and breaking the association to your .mdb files.

Hmmm. My thinking is you had a different version of Access installed and don't now? You need to association your mdb files to your current Access executable file.

Find the path to your msaccess.exe file.

Find any MDB file. Select the name (do not attempt to open). Hold the left shift key, and right-click the filename. You'll get an Open-With option, choose it. Check the box "Always use this program..." and hit browse (or is it Other?) and go to your msaccess.exe file and hit OK.

Henceforth, all your MDBs SHOULD open using that executable. Brainbench MVP for Microsoft Word
