I am using an Access97 frontend to an Oracle database. A separate application workgroup file resides on a network share, implementing access control for the access user i/f. This workgroup file was created with Access97.

Now I converted the Access97 user i/f to AccessXP (2002). The app is still running with the old MDW-file.
Everything works fine.

But I have no chance to open the MDW-file in AccessXP, even if I use the account, which has administrator privileges on this database. I have no problems when i use Access97 for this purpose. I want everything on my XP machines, and I do not want to use Access97 anymore.

What can I do to fully convert the MDW-file to AccessXP. There is no need to support Access97 any longer for this app.

Thanks for your help !

Couldn't you just import everything into a blank XP dB then make make the security file again?

Thanks for your reply.
What you said is clearly possible, but I implemented a lot of access privileges on the different objects ito the MDW-file. Therefore I am looking for some way of "coversion of the MDW-file".

The error I get when trying to open the MDW-file may indicate thats only a privilege problem:

"You are not authorized to convert or activae this database.
You must be member of the workgroup, where the users are defined. You must be authorized for open/execute and exclusive for the database....".

But I am trying with my administrator account!
