Hi All

I have a Vista Home Premium SP1 desktop. I cannot obtain an IP address from our DHCP enabled router, all you get is a self assigned IP address (169..). I have set a static IP address and you can only ping websites by their IP address. I have tried plugging in a wireless network adapter and still get the same issue. I have also tried it on a different router and still no luck

Thank you for all of your help in advance

make sure u set the connection as connected 2 a work/privat network

What is the outcome if you try "Safe Mode with Networking", is there any connection?

Try the "Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt, and then press ENTER", from this article.

How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista

Thank you all for your help I will try those things and see how it goes
