Hi all,

I have just installed a new MM system 5.0, it is up and running, without any problems.
when I try to upgrade to 5.2, the upgrade aplication can't access to the patch directory on the MSS. and sed this error message "you have selected the MSS patches to be installed. the installation wizard cannot obtain access to the patch directory on the MSS machine.
Make sure you have the correct permissions to access the \\MSS1\masServicePacks\ directory on the MSS."

Any guess?

Thanks for tha answers in advance.

Yes the path name in the MSS is wrong and as far as i know without the root and sroot password you can't fix it. Avaya needs to get into it and change the names of the directory paths

But in the ERROR message it talk about PERMISSIONS, it sems like he found the Directory but with wrong permissions

On the MAS can you do Start>Run and put in \\mss1 and click Ok to get to the mss share? (assuming that this is a Private network and the MAS is the domain controller)

Check to see if you are logging into the MAS with the domain administrator account (Private network) or an account that can access the mss share (Corporate network)

in the MAS there is 2 accounts, the domain controler and the customer acount, with the 2 accounts I can't access to the patch directory on the MSS, and with the 2 accounts I can't get to the mss share when I try [start>Run mss1]

:(

If you can access the backup dir but not the patch then it as i have stated before.

On MM 5.0 there was a problem with NETBIOS being disabled on the Private NIC. PSN 2355u talks about it. I'd check that out if you can't do Start>Run \\mss1. (assuming that this is a Private network and MAS1 is the domain controller)

Also, you say it was"just installed". Was the Windows Domain Setup done and run successfully on the MSS?

1- I can't access the backup dir, and I can't access the patch dir.
2- Start>Run>MSS1 done the error message "No network provider accepted the given network path"
3-Yes the domain setup was done successfuly

!!!

You didn't say if you checked the NETBIOS on the Private LAN. Here is the PSN info:

During an installation or upgrade to MM 5.0, NETBIOS is disabled on the PRIVATE LAN card on the Messaging Application
Servers (MAS) because the NETBIOS is disabled, the MSS can join the Windows domain but the MSS shares are not accessible.
Resolution
Development is aware if this issue and will create a fix.
Workaround or alternative remediation
1. On the MM 5.0 MAS server, right-click My Network Places.
2. Right-click the Private LAN and go to properties.
3. Go to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties, select the Advanced button, and then to the WINS tab. The NETBIOS setting
will be disabled.
4. Click Default to set NETBIOS and then click OK.
5. Click OK until you have closed the properties for the Private LAN.
