Trying to modify a report using Crystal 7...with Sql Server 7 as the back end...
When it asks me for userid and password ..and I input the correct parameters that I know are valid for the database.
It fails to make a connection .The same parameters work for the other reports...There is a default
value of userid that appears in the text box ..apparently
that the original developer used when developing on another server..

any ideas
thanks
john

You could try using the
user name as: sa
password: leave this blank as this is the default for sql or
Go into your sql enterprise manager then open your data source then go to security then logins, now make your self a new login account then go into your odbc and click on the data source and click on configure it will take you through the steps and you will see the username and password box type in your new user name and password then when it has finished you can test your data source

Hope it works

Joanne,

I am using an account - login id and pw that i know
is valid for that server and database ....
does it matter that the rpt was built on a different
server with different userid and pw

thanks
john

Does the report use a DSN that is availble on this PC?
Can you open the report in the design environment?
Can you verify the database of the report (Database - Verify Database)?
Can you set the location of the tables (Database - Set Location)?
