Cannot Login to NT Server

We recently converted an older Compaq Proliant 800 to Windows 98.<br><br>The Intel/Netflex card is set up and the network sees it.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is an older NT system running on IPX not IP so we are not concerned with IP addresses.<br><br>The NT login screen comes up...but the PC cannot find the server.&nbsp;&nbsp;Another computer at the same physical location can login.<br><br>Bindings seem to be okay.<br><br>The option to log in to an NT domain is properly configured.<br><br>Anyone have any thoughts?

What is the Frame Type setting...if auto change it to the specific Frame Type the server is running. I think the default for NT server is 802.3.<br><br>Also, are you using the Netflex driver that is native to Windows 98? Protocols 101....<br><br>NT and Novell use the 802.2 standard.&nbsp;&nbsp;802.3 was Novell's implementation way back when for ethernet.<br>You can review this information through the RFC, or support.novell.com or MS technical web site.<br><br>I think the question you should look at is which IP frame type are you using in conjunction to&nbsp;&nbsp;the 802.X&nbsp;&nbsp;That would be one of the following:<br><br>Ethernet_Snap or Ethernet_II&nbsp;&nbsp;If you have cisco equiment on your lan, you definately need to use the Ethernet_II with 802.2, or no talky.<br><br>Hope this helps<br> <p>Mark C. I stand corrected.&nbsp;&nbsp;802.3 is an IEEE standard but was first created by DIX (Digital, Intel, and Xerox); 802.2 is now the standard frame type for ethernet in conjunction with the ethernet_snap or ethernet_ii.<br><br><br><br> <p>Mark C.
