Hi

Having had to reinstall Windows and software because of blaster I cannot now get Adobe Distiller to work. If trying to convert a Word Document to PDF I get the message

cannot locate Acrobat Distiller printer driver. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat 4.05.

I have downloaded and installed the Postscript driver from Adobe Adobe Universal PostScript Windows Driver Installer 1.0.6 - English 5/23/2002

But still can not get it to worked. I know it should because it did before.

Can anybody help?

Regards

The obvious question is - have you reinstalled Acrobat Distiller?

Creating a PDF is a two step process - whether you choose to deliberately do it that way or use the export to PDF function, where the two steps take place 'behind the scenes'. The first step is the one that requires the postscript printer driver, which creates a postscript file from your original. The second step is conversion of the postscript file to PDF, which requires Distiller or some other PDF creator such as PDF Writer (only good for text-only documents) or third party apps such as Jaws.

So although you may have the postscript printer driver installed, it sounds as though you don't have Distiller installed. This may be sourced from either the full version of Acrobat, or is supplied as a separate app in programs like Pagemaker.

Yes that was pretty much it. Basically Adobe don't make it very clear the steps that you need to take when you are a Windows 200o user. Well in my opinion any way!

They are for others:

1. Remove, if you have installed all components of Adobe Acrobat.

2. Down load winsteng and ac405up2 from the Adobe Web site.

3. Run Winsteng.

4. Reinstall Adobe Acrobat.

5. Install the patch ac405up2. Then everything works perfectly.

Regards
