Cannot load Microsoft Essenstials or install two updates.

I have attempted to use Microsoft Essentials. When I click on "run" to load the program on my computer, it keeps looking for a "msi" file. Evidently I have downloaded this program earlier and somehow deleted it. It is not on my "add/remove" panel. I cannot run the program.

ALSO, I cannot load KB2656369 and KB2686828; Security update for Microsoft.NET framework 1.0 SP2 on Windows Server and Windows XPx86. There is an indication that the updates have been installed, yet when I check to see about "updates to download" these two updates re-appear. This has happened continuously after supposedly being installed.

Have you tried downloading Essentials again? and Re running the installation?

Microsoft Essentials: Do you have another antivirus installed? Some AV programs uninstall Microsoft Essentials to prevent conflicts. If you do have one installed, it may also be preventing you from re-installing it.

Security update for Microsoft.NET framework 1.0 SP2: I've had similar problems with some .NET updates, not necessarily the same ones as you do, on some PCs and servers. The only way I could get them installed was to uninstall all .NET frameworks and reinstall each one with the patches. I suspect that something gets discombobulated and uninstalling and reinstalling clears everything out.
